DAC Baseball Players of the Week (March 5-11)

The Dallas Athletic Conference has announced its Baseball Players of the Week for March 5-11.

The DAC Players of the Week are Dallas College Eastfield's Angel Rodriguez and Jacob Prokarym. Rodriguez was selected as the league's Offensive Player of the Week, while Prokarym was named the DAC Pitcher of the Week.

A sophomore first baseman from Tyler, Texas, Rodriguez batted .714, going 10-for-14 in four games last week. He had three home runs, a double, 12 runs batted in, eight runs scored and three walks. Rodriguez had two home runs and seven RBI, and walked twice in an 18-14 win over National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Northeast Texas Community College. He had multiple hits in all four games, including three in a pair of contests in the three-game series with Dallas College Cedar Valley. He also drove in at least one run in all four games.

This marks the second time this season Rodriguez has been chosen as the DAC Offensive Player of the Week. He is batting a team-leading .487 with eight home runs, nine doubles, a triple and 38 RBI this season.

A freshman left-handed pitcher from Plano, Texas, Prokarym tossed a complete game shutout in a 15-0 victory over Cedar Valley. He allowed two hits and two walks, while fanning five and not surrendering a run in seven innings.

Prokarym is 4-1 this season with a 2.52 earned run average and 32 strikeouts in 25 innings pitched.
