Region 5 championship game is suspended

The celebrations will have to wait a few hours for the Weather College Coyotes or the New Mexico Junior College Thunderbirds.

At least until Tuesday afternoon.

Region 5 officials suspended Monday's championship game between Weatherford and New Mexico Junior College on Monday evening. Weatherford College held a 12-8 lead over NMJC in the bottom of the seventh inning. The game will resume at noon at Roger Williams Ballpark in Weatherford.

A win by Weatherford will send the Coyotes to the NJCAA College World Series as the Region 5 champion. A win by NMJC would force a winner-take-all showdown on Tuesday afternoon to determine the Region 5 champion.
