Luikart, Lachance named NTJCAC Baseball Players of the Week

Davis Luikart of Temple College and Deiten Lachance of McLennan Community College were selected as the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference's Baseball Players of the Week.

A sophomore standout from Round Rock, Texas, Luikart earned the NTJCAC Pitcher of the Week honors after hurling a no-hitter against Ranger College. In his only outing of the week, he held RC hitless through five innings while striking out six. He allowed just one baserunner in the contest via a walk.

A freshman catcher/first baseman from Sherbrooke, Quebec in Canada, Lachance was named the NTJCAC Position Player of the Week after starring for the Highlanders. Overall, he batted .556 in his five games last week, going 10-for-21 from the plate with 2 home runs, 9 RBI and a slugging percentage of 1.056. He also scored eight runs. He went 1-for-2 with a walk, a double and 2 runs scored in a 19-1 win at Navarro. He followed that up by going 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in a 7-4 loss to Vernon. In Game 2 vs. Vernon, he went 3-for-4 with a homer, 4 RBI and 2 runs scored and led the Highlanders to a 7-1 win. He also went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and a run scored in a 5-3 loss to Vernon in Game 3, before finishing the week with a 3-for-5 effort with a double, homer and 4 RBI in a 14-4 win.
