Smoot, Dinscore chosen as DAC Players of the Week

Dallas College Richland's Jacob Smoot and Dallas College Brookhaven's Bo Dinscore were selected the Dallas Athletic Conference's Baseball Players of the Week.

Smoot was named the Dallas Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for the second straight week.

A sophomore left hander from Burleson, Texas, Smoot went the distance in an 11-1 seven-inning run-rule victory over National Junior College Athletic Association Division II No. 2-ranked Dallas College Eastfield last week. He allowed one run on six hits and one walk, while striking out four. It was Smoot's second straight win on the mound, and his third in the last four outings. He is unbeaten in that four-game stretch.

Smoot takes a 5-1 record with a 2.77 earned run average and 37 strikeouts into this week.

Dinscore was named the Dallas Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week.

A sophomore first baseman from Georgetown, Texas, Dinscore batted .500 (6-for-12) with three home runs, a double, seven runs batted in, seven runs scored and three walks, including two intentional passes in Saturday's series-clinching finale – a 9-7 win in 10 innings for the Bears. He went 3-for-5 with two homers and five RBI in the 17-11 Game 2 victory. Dinscore was 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and two RBI in the 10-9 loss in Game 1. He was 1-for-4 with the two intentional walks in the Game 3 victory as Brookhaven captured its first DAC series of the season.

Dinscore is hitting .368 with seven home runs, eight doubles and 28 RBI this season. His seven homers are tied for third among National Junior College Athletic Association Division III leaders. He's hit safely in his last four games.
