Region V has announced the Men's Basketball Players of the Week for the week of Oct. Nov. 3-9.

The Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference Player of the Week is Akili Vining of McLennan Community College.

The 6-2 sophomore guard from Fort Worth, TX averaged 20 points per game for the Highlanders last week. He was the team's leading scorer in two of their three games and scored 28 points against Independence (KS). He was 19 of 23 from the free-throw line and had 8 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists.

The Western Junior College Athletic Conference Player of the Week is CJ Smith of Western Texas College.

The 5-9 freshman point guard from Mansfield, TX averaged 29.5 points and 5.5 assists in two games played last week. He also had 6 rebounds and 5 steals for the week.

The Dallas Athletic Conference Player of the Week is DaJuan Ridgeway of Eastfield College.

The 6-2 sophomore point guard from Little Rock, AR averaged 21.3 points per game, 8 assists and 4.8 rebounds last week. He opened the season with a triple-double with 17 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds versus Paul Quinn College. He also had a double-double against Mondello College with 27 points and 11 assists.
