WJCAC Basketball Players of the Week (Jan. 15-21)

The WJCAC has announced its men's and women's basketball Players of the Week for Jan. 15-21. The men's basketball Player of the Week is Christian Coleman of South Plains College. The WJCAC women's honor goes to Aileen Marquez of Clarendon College.

A 6-9 sophomore forward from Winnsboro, Louisiana, Coleman starred in both of SPC's games last week. Overall, he hit on 18 of his 31 shots from the field, including going 3-for-7 from behind the three-point arc. He also sank 12 of his 17 free throw opportunities en route to averaging 25.5 points and 10 rebounds per game. He also had five assists and five blocked shots.

Marquez led the way for Clarendon College to a 2-0 record this week. The Arden, NC native scored 19 points in a 62-55 win at Midland College and added 23 more points in a 86-66 victory over Frank Phillips College. Marquez shot 48.3 percent (14-29) from the field including an impressive 52.9 percent (9-17) from 3-point land.
