Smith Named Honorable Mention All-American

Dallas College Mountain View men's basketball's Joshua Smith was named a National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Honorable Mention All-American.

A 6-foot-8 freshman forward from Plano, Texas, Smith averaged a double-double, scoring 18.5 points per game, while pulling down 11.2 rebounds. He blocked 4.1 shots per game for a total of 118, which ranked second in the country. He shot 65.6 percent from the field, which also ranked second in the nation.

Smith had 19 double-doubles. He scored a season-high 35 points, going 13 of 19 from the floor in a victory over Jacksonville College on Nov. 18. He grabbed a season-high 22 rebounds in a victory over Southwestern Assemblies of God University Junior Varsity on Jan. 17.

Voted the Dallas Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year, he scored in double figures in 28 of the 29 games, and topped 30 in two. Smith finished with nine points in the lone game he didn't reach double figures.

Smith was named the DAC Player of the Week Nov. 20. He helped the Lions go 16-15 with an appearance in the NJCAA Division III South Central District Semifinals.
