Highlanders ranked sixth in preseason poll

The McLennan men's golf squad will begin the season tied for sixth in the Bushnell/Golfweek NJCAA Division I Coaches Preseason Poll. The Highlanders received 25 points in the poll and are tied with Eastern Florida State.
Defending national champion Indian Hills (Iowa) sits atop the rankings with 76 points, followed by Odessa (Texas) in second with 65 points and Midland (Texas) in third with 64 points. New Mexico and Hutchinson (Kansas) round out the top five with 59 and 52 points, respectively.
Other Texas squads ranked include: Western Texas, ninth, 18 points and Blinn, 10th, 11 points. Ranger, Tyler and Weatherford are all receiving votes.
The Highlanders open the fall season Saturday at the Andrews Collegiate/Amateur Invitational in Andrews, Texas.
