El Paso CC men, NMJC women win WJCAC titles
The El Paso Community College men's and New Mexico Junior College women's cross country teams captured the 2022 Western Junior College Athletic Conference's cross country titles last week. The meet was held Oct. 29 at Harry McAdams Park in Hobbs, NM.
Adams Biwott and David Israel ran to first- and second-place finishes, respectively, and powered the Tejanos past New Mexico Junior College and South Plains College for the top spot in the men's division. EPCC finished the meet with 32 points. NMJC was second with 33 points.
Biwott won the men's 8-kilometer race with a time of 23 minutes, 31.80 seconds. Israel was second at 23.35.40. Israel was second at 23:35.40.
The NMJC women took three of the top four spots in the women's 5K race and cruised to the WJCAC title with ease. The Lady Thunderbirds tallied just 25 points in the meet. El Paso and Amarillo were second and third, respectively.
El Paso's Faith Nyathi won the women's race with a mark of 17:51.50.
