Lady Rangers give Foy win No. 400

Ranger College head coach Bill Foy was understandably emotional following his team's victory over Southwestern Christian College last Wednesday in front of the home fans in the Ron Butler Gymnasium. Milestones like reaching 400 career wins don't happen that often.

Ruby Angok and Marshalia Lollie both turned in double-double performances and helped spur Ranger to a resounding 90-45 romp over the Lady Rams in a key Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference showdown that pushed Foy into the 400-win club.

"I'm glad I got to share this with this team," he said in a postgame meeting with his players. "I want to thank everyone of them, and everyone of the players who have played for me in the past who have helped make this possible. This belongs to them and my assistants as much as it does to me."

Foy has accomplished a lot during his career, including coaching Paris Junior College to the men's national championship in 2005, as well as earning two national coach of the year awards and a spot in the Paris Junior College Athletic Hall of Fame.

A native of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Foy racked up more than 200 career wins during his time as head coach at Paris before becoming an assistant coach at the University of North Texas. From there, he returned to the small-college level and posted almost 50 more in two years at Richland College before accepting the head golf duties at Ranger while serving as an assistant to new Ranger College men's coach Billy Gillispie. In his only season at the helm of the Ranger College golf team, the Rangers qualified for the first time for the NJCAA National tournament.

Foy is in his third year as the women's coach at Ranger. Currently, the Lady Rangers are 18-8 overall (7-5 in Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference play) and trying to earn their third straight berth in the Region V tournament. Overall, Foy is 56-32 at Ranger.
