Region V Women's Basketball Players of the Week (Jan. 28)

Region V has announced the Women's Basketball Players of the Week for the week of Jan. 19-25.

The Western Junior College Athletic Conference Player of the Week is Ella Tofaeono of Midland College.

The 6-3 post from Sydney, Australia shot 69 percent from the field in two games last week, averaging 14.5 points and 7.5 rebounds. She also added 4 blocked shots and 4 assists.

The Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference Player of the Week is Destiny McAfee of Weatherford College.

The 5-9 sophomore guard from Longview, TX averaged 21.0 points and 4.3 rebounds in three games last week. She also had 5 assists and 4 steals. She scored 31 points against Hill College and shot better than 50 percent from the field for the week.

The Dallas Athletic Conference Player of the Week is Kaiyla Payne of Cedar Valley College.

The 5-9 sophomore forward from San Antonio, TX scored 22 points, pulled down 15 rebounds and blocked 5 shots in one game last week. She went an impressive 10 of 15 from the field.
