DAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week (Sept. 10)

NJCAA Region V has announced the Division III Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 1-7.

Brookhaven College defender and forward Alex Sandlin is the Dallas Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

The sophomore from Irving, TX started off an outstanding week by putting in a great offensive and defensive display against NJCAA D1 Paris Junior College. Alex led the Brookhaven attack in the first half with two goals in the 10th and 42nd minutes. Alex would then turn provider in the 44th minute with an assist to forward Taylor Nelson. In the second half Alex went down the back to snuff out all the Paris attacks and help secure a clean sheet for the Lady Bears. Alex then kept her fine form going against Redlands Community College, which is another NJCAA D1 school. In this game Alex started as a defender to stop all the Redlands attacks and kept a first half clean sheet. Sandlin would move to center forward in the second half and that move paid off. She assisted forward Patricia Valdes in the 60th minute and then got onto the scoresheet herself with goals in the 62nd and 65th minutes. Alex truly put in a captain's display this past week on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Sandlin ended the week with 6 shots, 4 on goal, 4 goals and 2 assists.
