Dallas College Richland women's soccer's Emily Acosta was selected as the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Player of the Week.

A sophomore forward from Rockwall, Texas, Acosta had two goals and two assists in the ninth-ranked Thunderducks' season-opening 7-1 victory over Northeast Texas Community College. She found the back of the net in the eighth minute to open the scoring. Acosta then assisted on the next goal to extend the lead to 2-0. She picked up her second goal in the 72nd minute before assisting on the ensuing goal that bumped the score to 6-1.

The Thunderducks (1-0-0) host Louisiana State University Eunice (1-1-0) Thursday at 7 p.m.
