WJCAC Baseball Players of the Week (Feb. 12-18)

The Western Junior College Athletic Conference has announced its Baseball Players of the Week for Feb. 12-18.

The WJCAC Baseball Players of the Week are Cooper Golden of Amarillo College and Sydney Ward of Amarillo College.

A freshman centerfielder from McKinney, Texas, Ward delivered in the clutch for AC last week. He earned the WJCAC Position Player of the Week honors by batting.604 with a double, four home runs and 12 runs batted in. He also drew seven walks and scored 12 runs. He capped his week by making his fourth round-tripper a walk-off blast that gave Amarillo a big victory.

A freshman pitcher from Odessa, Texas, Golden starred for his hometown team last week. En route to netting the WJCAC Pitcher of the Week honors, he picked up a win by scattering two hits through five innings of scoreless work and fanning 10 opposing batters.
