Chaps claim Region V men’s title

The Midland College Chaparrals knocked down five three-pointers in the first half on Saturday afternoon and cruised to 68-55 victory over Ranger College in the Region V men's tournament title in front of a large crowd in The Tiger Pit at Frenship High School.
With the win, the Chaps improved to 27-6 for the season and, more importantly, earned a berth in the NJCAA national tournament.
The Chaparral defense starred for Midland College. The Chaps limited Ranger College to just two three-point shots. As a team, Midland College held RC to less than 30 percent shooting.
Midland College entered the Region V tournament as the No. 3 seed from the Western Junior College Athletic Conference.
The Rangers, the NTJCAC champion, finished the season at 26-7.
