DAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week (Sept. 18-24)

The Dallas Athletic Conference has announced its selections for the Women's Soccer Players of the Week for Sept. 18-24.

The DAC Players of the Week are Aliyana Obregon of Dallas College-Brookhaven and Whitni Newbill of Dallas College-Brookhaven.

A freshman midfielder from Dallas, Texas, Aliyana Obregon starred for Dallas College-Brookhaven last week. Her high soccer IQ makes her a great defensive midfielder for the Lady Bears. Because she reads the game so well, she is able to break up many opposition attacks, while also creating counterattacks for Brookhaven. That was on display against North Lake with her being able to regain possession and lay the ball off for the team's opening goal. She was able to continue the same type of performance against Cedar Valley by not giving them any real attacks at the Brookhaven goal. Aliyana is one of the main reasons why the Lady Bears are still undefeated. She would end the week with 4 shots, 1 on goal and 1 assist.

A freshman forward from Austin, Texas, Newbill had a great week leading the Lady Bears forward line this past week. She started off the week with the opening and winning goal against Dallas College-North Lake and assisted on Brookhaven's fourth goal. Against Dallas College-Cedar Valley, she provided an assist on the first goal and then got herself on the scoresheet with the second goal of the game. Whitni ended the week with nine shots, six on goal, two goals and two assists.
