Martin Honored as Region Coach of Year

Martin Honored as Region Coach of Year

Dallas College Eastfield baseball coach Michael Martin was honored as the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Region V Coach of the Year.

In his 22nd year with the Harvester Bees, Martin guided Eastfield to a second straight Dallas Athletic Conference title and repeat South Central District championship. Both resulted in the Harvester Bees' second straight trip to the NJCAA Division III World Series. 

Eastfield won the DAC regular season title with a 26-4 record. The Bees have been ranked in the top three of the NJCAA Division III poll all season, and hold the No. 2 ranking as the season winds down at the national tournament. 

Martin coached the DAC Co-Most Valuable Player of the Year in Angel Rodriguez and the league's Co-Pitcher of the Year in Cody Ausmus this season.

Eastfield, which is riding a 14-game winning streak, will play Niagra County Community College in the second round of the NJCAA Division III World Series 3 p.m. CT Monday.
