Highlanders sweep Rangers

Highlanders sweep Rangers

The McLennan Highlanders swept today's conference doubleheader with the Ranger Rangers at Bosque River Ballpark.
 
The Highlanders took game one 7-1 with Stefan Stahl getting the win on the mound in relief of starter Clayton Freshcorn.
 
Daniel Harden put McLennan on the board with a solo home run in the bottom of the third.
 
Ranger tied the game with a run in the bottom of the fourth. Jaxon Haynes and Robert Oropeza both walked. Tui Amosa then singled to score Haynes.
 
McLennan scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Mac Rose singled, and Aidan Kuni was hit by the pitch. Owen Smith came in as a pinch runner for Rose. Deiten Lachance singled to score Smith, and Sam Flores singled to score Kuni. Flores advanced on a passed ball, and Brodey Williams walked to load the bases. Walker Freeman walked to score Lachance, and Landon Underhill walked to score Flores. Williams scored on a sacrifice fly by Brecken Menuet, and Freeman scored on a fielder's choice by Harden.
 
Game two was an 11-1 run rule victory for the Highlanders with Kade Bing getting the win on the mound.
 
Ranger's only run came in the top of the first. J.T. Thompson, Amosa and Haynes all singled. Oropeza then drew a walk to score Thompson.
 
McLennan tied the game with a run in the second as Flores walked, stole second, advanced to third on an error and scored on a ground out by Freeman.
 
Two more Highlander runs scored in the third. Harden walked and Mac Rose doubled. Kuni was hit by the pitch, loading the bases. Lachance then singled to score Harden and Rose.
 
Another McLennan run scored in the fourth. Freeman singled but was out at second on a fielder's choice by Underhill. Menuet walked and both runners advanced on a ground out by Harden. Underhill then scored on a passed ball.
 
The Highlanders sealed the win with seven runs in the bottom of the eighth. Freeman led off with a solo home run. Underhill and Menuet both singled and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Harden. Underhill scored on a sacrifice fly by Rose, and Kuni walked. Lachance then doubled to score Menuet. Flores walked, loading the bases, and pinch hitter Marcus Smith followed with a walk-off grand slam.
