Smith, Farr Headline All-DAC Baseball

Dallas College Richland's Trey Smith was voted the Most Valuable Player of the Dallas Athletic Conference. Teammate Bron Farr was voted the league Pitcher of the Year.
Bobby Gutierrez, Sean Amarante, Jhosnel Ruiz and Jaylen Cream received First Team All-DAC honors, while Jordan Owns was a second team selection.
A sophomore first baseman from San Antonio, Smith is batting .444 with a nation-leading 30 doubles, 13 home runs, three triples and 70 RBI entering the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III World Series, which begins 6:15 p.m. CT Saturday when Richland (35-22) meets Northern Essex (32-8) at Falcon Park in Auburn, New York. He cranked his 13th homer – a bases-clearing shot in the South Central District Championship game Saturday to propel the Thunderducks on to the World Series.
A sophomore right-hander from San Antonio, Farr is 7-3 with a 2.73 earned run average and 47 strikeouts in a nation-leading 102 1/3 innings pitched. He tossed one complete game this year, and has gone seven or more innings in eight outings this season.
A freshman shortstop from Fort Worth, Gutierrez is hitting .333 with six homers, 12 doubles, four triples, 36 RBI and 21 stolen bases from the leadoff spot. He collected four hits in two games this season, and had three stolen bases in two others.

A freshman designated hitter from Valencia, Venezuela, Ruiz is hitting .343 with 11 doubles, three homers and 42 RBI. He had three hits in seven games this year.
A freshman right-hander from Houston, Cream is 3-1 with two saves, a 3.75 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 36 innings pitched. He did not surrender a run in his last three outings and 13 of his 19 appearances this season.
A sophomore left fielder from San Antonio, Owns is hitting .367 with seven doubles, two triples, 22 RBI and 17 stolen bases. He had 21 multi-hit games, including six with three – the last time in the district championship win over No. 4 Dallas College Eastfield.
