Baumann named TABC Coach of the Year

The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches announced their 2023 College awards last week.

Odessa College head coach Kris Baumann was named the Men's Two-Year College Coach of the Year and Sam Stowe was named Men's Student Assistant of the Year.

Baumann, just finished his fifth season as the Wranglers head coach guiding the team to the Elite Eight appearance at the NJCAA D1 National Tournament. Odessa was 30-4 overall this season and won the Western Junior College Athletic Conference regular season title for the third consecutive year going 15-1 in WJCAC play.

In his five seasons at Odessa, Baumann has a 120-37 overall record. The Wranglers have won four WJCAC regular season titles and have made four trips to Hutchinson, KS and the NJCAA D1 Men's Basketball National Tournament.

Sam Stowe is in his first season as the Men's Basketball Student Assistant. The Odessa native has been a big help to the Men's Basketball staff this year, helping with individual workouts, scouting reports, and other duties as assigned.

The TABC awards are selected each year by Texas Basketball Coaches along with Regional coordinators and committees.
