Rodriguez Resigns with Sidekicks until 2026

Dallas College Richland assistant men's soccer coach Alberto Rodriguez resigned with the Dallas Sidekicks, an indoor professional soccer team in the Major Arena Soccer League. His contract runs through the 2026 season.

"I'm excited to get back on the field," Rodriguez said. "Playing for the Sidekicks brings me back to when I would watch the Sidekicks as a kid."

Rodriguez, also a physical educational teacher at Stevens Park Elementary in Oak Cliff, Texas, also played at Richland and Midwestern State University. He was part of the Thunderducks' 2006 National Junior College Athletic Association Division III national championship team. Following his playing days at MSU, Rodriguez played for the North Texas Rayados, where he helped lead the team to nine straight U.S. Open Cup appearances.

Rodriguez was a member of Richland's fourth national championship team when he had 15 goals and 11 assists in 2006. Earlier this month, he was on the sidelines as an assistant coach as the Thunderducks captured their sixth straight national championship. It was Richland's NJCAA-leading 12th title.

Last year, with the Sidekicks, Rodriguez scored 20 goals in 18 games. As a rookie in the MASL, he led the team in scoring.

The Sidekicks open the season at home Dec. 9 at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen.
