Thunderducks Dot All-America List with 3 First Teamers, 1 Second Team Pick

Four players from Dallas College Richland's national championship-winning men's soccer team were selected as National Junior College Athletic Association Division III All-Americans.

Freshman forward Luis Vargus, sophomore midfielder Felipe Escorcia and sophomore defender Joseph Musungaie were selected for the first team, while freshman forward Joseph Min earned a spot on the second team.

Vargus, a native of Dallas, led the Thunderducks' offensive front all season long, leading the team in goals (18), points (36) and gamewinning goals (3). Vargas was especially dominant in the national tournament, scoring a tournament-high eight goals, which earned him the tournament's Most Valuable Player award, while helping the program win its NJCAA-leading 12th national title.

Escorcia, of Frisco, Texas, was a master distributor over the course of the season, leading the team in assists with 20. Escorcia also scored seven goals to give him a total of 34 points – the second most on the team.

Musungaie, who hails from Johannesburg, South Africa, started every game for the Thunderducks, anchoring a defense that only gave up eight goals, and did not allow a single goal in the national tournament en route to a sixth straight national championship. He also scored two goals.

Min, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, played a pivotal role for the Thunderducks this season, scoring the second most goals on the team (8), while also adding three assists and a gamewinning goal Oct. 20 in the victory over Paris Junior College.

Richland beat Mohawk Valley Community College, 4-0, in Gastonia, North Carolina to win the program's sixth consecutive national championship and 12th overall.
