Odessa College to face Midland for Region 5 West title

The Region 5 West Softball Championship will be a Permian Basin affair as two teams located less than 20 miles will square off for the NJCAA Region 5 title.

Midland College punched its ticket to the regional title game on Monday afternoon by cclaiming a 9-1 victory over Frank Phillips College in the consolation finals. The Lady Chaps suffered an 8-0 loss to Odessa earlier in the tournament.

Following its loss to Odessa in the winner's bracket finals, Midland rallied back to beat Western Texas, 6-4, and Frank Phillips to earn a rematch with their close rivals on Monday.

The tournament, which was originally scheduled to run through May 14, saw several games delayed due to inclement weather.
