Highlanders win two in McLennan Round Robin

The sixth-ranked McLennan Highlander softball squad picked up a pair of victories this afternoon at Bosque River Ballpark.
 
McLennan defeated the Tyler Apaches 7-1 in the afternoon game with Katia Reyes going the complete game in the circle.
 
The Highlanders first three runs came in the bottom of the third inning. Taylor Meier walked and Mickayla Tosch singled. Trinity Allen followed with the three-run homer.
 
McLennan added another run in the bottom of the fifth. Tosch walked and Allen singled. Kyla Heine singled and Tosch scored on an Apache error.
 
Tyler's only run came in the top of the sixth. Berlyn Grossman doubled and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Jolie Bazan. Jordyn De Los Santos then singled to score Grossman.
 
The Highlanders rounded out scoring with three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Sarah Johnson and Madison Garcia both walked and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Meier. Tosch singled to score Johnson, and Garcia scored on a sacrifice fly by Allen. Heine then doubled to score Tosch.
 
In the nightcap, McLennan got the 9-0 walk-off run-rule win over the Crowder Roughriders with Brinly Maples in the circle
 
McLennan jumped out early, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Heine walked, stole second and scored on a double by Tosch. Tosch then advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Allen. Reyes singled, and Allen scored on an error.
 
Three more Highlander runs scored in the third. Allen singled but was out at second on a fielder's choice by Reyes. Faile walked and Ally Thompson singled, loading the bases. Garcia also walked, scoring Reyes, and Aynsli Lawson singled to score Faile.
 
Another McLennan run scored in the fourth. Tosch walked and advanced to second on a mis-handled fielder' s choice by Allen. Both runners advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Reyes. Faile then singled to score Tosch.
 
The Highlanders sealed the win with two runs in the fifth. Lawson doubled and Mackenzi Jenkins walked. Maddie Moore replaced Jenkins as the runner at first. Moore was out at second on a fielder's choice by Heine. Heine stole second. Tosch then doubled to score Lawson and Heine.
 
McLennan and Tyler will face off again at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Bosque River Ballpark.
