Highlanders get road doubleheader sweep at San Jac

The McLennan Highlanders moved to 20-0 on the season with a doubleheader sweep on the road against the San Jacinto Ravens.
 
McLennan got the 9-1 run-rule victory in game one with Makenzi Jenkins picking up the win in the circle.
 
The Highlanders scored three runs in the top of the second inning. Kyla Heine singled to lead off the inning, stole second and advanced to third on a ground out by Chesnee Faile. Madison Garcia reached on an error, bringing Heine in to score. Madison Hornback followed with a triple, scoring Garcia, and Hornback scored on another error.
 
Maggie Evans' home run to lead off the bottom of the second would be San Jacinto's only run.
 
McLennan added a run in the fifth. Garcia drew a lead off walk and stole second. Taylor Meier then singled to score Garcia.
 
The Highlanders added five runs in the sixth to seal the run rule. Trinity Allen led off the inning with a solo home run. Heine walked and Katia Reyes followed with a two-run homer. Faile reached on an error and Garcia singled, both scoring on a double by Hornback.
 
In the nightcap, the Highlanders defeated the Ravens 9-4 with Brinly Maples getting the win and Taryn Batterton picking up the save.
 
McLennan scored two runs in the third as Mickayla Tosch singled and scored on Allen's home run.
 
San Jacinto scored one in the bottom of the inning. Iliana Melendez singled and advanced to third on an error. Kiren Diaz then singled to score Melendez.
 
The Highlanders scored two more in the fourth. Hornback doubled, Meier singled and Allen walked to load the bases. Heine then singled to score Hornback and Meier.
 
McLennan added another run in the fifth on a Faile home run.
 
The Ravens scored three in the bottom of the inning. Gigi Carrion led off with a solo home run. Diaz and Chloe Foster both singled, and Peyton Watson was hit by the pitch, loading the bases. Madison Carr singled to score Diaz, and Foster scored on a ground out by Angelina Morales.
 
The Highlanders scored one in the top of the sixth. Meier and Allen walked. Meier then scored on a single by Heine.
 
McLennan's final three runs came in the top of the seventh. Ally Thompson walked and was replaced by pinch runner Madison Garcia. Hornback singled, and Sarah Johnson grounded into a double play, putting Garcia out at third. Meier singled, and Tosch singled to score Hornback and Meier. Allen then singled to score Tosch.
