Perez, Stewart earn WJCAC Players of the Week honors

Katelynn Perez of Midland College and Madison Stewart of Midland College were selected as the Western Junior College Athletic Conference's Softball Players of the Week.

A freshman from Los Fresnos, Texas, Perez was named the WJCAC Pitcher Player of the Week. She posted three wins in her four outings last week. Overall, she worked 19.2 innings, allowing two runs while scattering 16 hits. She finished with 33 strikeouts and just two walks.

A sophomore catcher, Stewart batted .375 for the week with a double, 2 home runs and 6 RBI. She also scored 6 runs and 2 walks.
