Reyes' perfect game fuels #1 Highlanders to sweep of #7 Grayson

The top-ranked McLennan Highlanders swept today's doubleheader with the #7 Grayson Vikings at Bosque River Ballpark to move to 44-0 on the season and 22-0 in conference play.
 
Katia Reyes pitched a perfect game to lead the Highlanders to a 9-0 run-rule win in the opener.
 
McLennan scored three runs in the bottom of the first. Taylor Meier led off with a single, and Trinity Allen followed with a two-run homer off the top of the right-field fence. Reyes came up two batters later with a solo home run.
 
Another Highlander run scored in the second. Chesnee Faile singled and stole second. Faile then moved to third on a ground out by Mickayla Tosch and scored on a ground out by Ellie Loveless.
 
The final five runs came in the bottom of the fourth. Reyes singled and advanced on an error. Madison Hornback also singled and advanced on the throw. Tosch then singled to score Reyes, and Hornback scored on the throw. Loveless walked and stole second, and Meier reached on an error. Tosch scored on a sacrifice fly by Madison Garcia, and Allen singled to score Loveless and Meier.
 
The Highlanders held off Grayson in game two to get the 5-2 win with Makenzi Jenkins in the circle.
 
McLennan began the scoring with four runs in the bottom of the first. Meier and Garcia both singled. Allen followed with the three-run homer. Kyla Heine singled, stole second, and moved to third on a ground out by Reyes. Hornback followed with the sacrifice fly to score Heine.
 
Grayson got on the board with a run in the top of the fourth as Abby Wood doubled and scored on a double by Sophia Jenkins.
 
The Highlanders final run came in the bottom of the sixth as Meier singled and scored on a triple by Garcia.
 
The Vikings rounded out the scoring with a run in the top of the seventh. Layne Reh singled, and Kamryn Cantu reached on an error, moving Reh to third. Rh then scored on a sacrifice fly by Halle Giaudrone.
