Cedar Valley Clinches DAC Title

Dallas College Cedar Valley's seventh-ranked women's basketball team clinched the Dallas Athletic Conference regular season championship with a 95-39 win over Dallas College Richland Tuesday night.

The National Junior College Athletic Association Division III-ranked Suns won the DAC title for the third time since 2020.

Cedar Valley (14-5, 3-0 DAC) will play at Richland (5-11, 1-2) Thursday at 6 p.m. to complete the league regular season schedule.

The Suns stormed out to a 23-7 first quarter lead, and never looked back. They led 49-17 at halftime.

Cedar Valley forward Precious Jackson-Sanders recorded her sixth double-double of the season, scoring 21 points on 10 of 14 shooting and grabbing 13 rebounds. Guard Mia Thomas had 15 points, six assists, five rebounds and four steals. She was 7 of 12 from the floor. Guard Tori Ransom had season highs of 14 points and eight rebounds, shooting 6 of 9 from the field. Guard Carmela Hayden finished with 10 points, six rebounds and three assists.

The Suns shot 52 percent from the field, going 43 of 82. They had 29 assists. Cedar Valley grabbed 77 rebounds, including 22 on the offensive glass. It was the second most rebounds for the Suns this season. They had 82 at Dallas College Mountain View Jan. 25.

Cedar Valley forward Ciana Fudzie had six points, 11 rebounds and a blocked shot. Forward Nekayla Williams had six points and 10 boards. Guard-forward Keely Burks scored seven points, and guard Tyla Harper had six. Forward Vivian Nwabufo pulled down seven rebounds.

It was the Suns' seventh straight win.
