Lewis Selected as NJCAA DIII Player of Week

Dallas College Brookhaven women's soccer's Mariah Lewis was chosen as the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Player of the Week.

A 5-foot-3 freshman defender from Fort Worth, Texas, Lewis scored the Bears' first goal of the season in a 3-0 win over Cisco College. She also had an assist on the second goal. Lewis' goal came on a 30-yard free kick in the 16th minute. Lewis also played a big role defensively in the shutout victory over the NJCAA Division I opponent, helping to hold the Wranglers to two shots on goal.

Lewis became the second straight Dallas Athletic Conference player to win the National Player of the Week honor after Dallas College Richland's Emily Acosta received the award last week.

Brookhaven (1-1-0) is scheduled to host Paris Junior College (0-1-0) at noon Friday.
