Villa, Ramirez Sweep DAC Players of Week

Dallas College Richland's Linzy Villa and Jessica Ramirez have been named the Dallas Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week. Villa earned the league's Player of the Week, while Ramirez became the Goalkeeper of the Week.

A sophomore forward from Dallas, Villa scored three goals and had an assist as the Thunderducks won both games last week. She matched her season high with two goals, while also adding an assist in Richland's 3-1 win over Dallas College Eastfield. She also scored a goal in a 3-0 shutout of Dallas College North Lake.

Villa has a DAC-leading eight goals and three assists for 19 points.

A freshman keeper from Dallas, Ramirez played all 90 minutes, stopping six shots in a shutout of North Lake. She made three saves in one half of the win over Eastfield.

Ramirez is 2-1 with one shutout, a 2.00 goals against average and 24 saves this season.

Richland (6-4-1, 6-2-1 DAC) will finish the regular season 4 p.m. Tuesday at Dallas College Cedar Valley (4-5-3, 2-5-2). The Thunderducks earned a quarterfinal bye into the NJCAA Division III District Tournament, which begins Friday at Dallas College Brookhaven.
