WJCAC Women's Volleyball Players of the Week (Oct. 9-15)
The Western Junior College Athletic Conference has announced its Women's Volleyball Players of the Week for Oct. 9-15.
The WJCAC Women's Volleyball Players of the Week are Iva Popovic of New Mexico Junior College and Mio Yamamoto of New Mexico Military Institute.
A 5-10 freshman outside hitter from Belgrade, Serbia, Popovic starred for NMJC last week, and played a key role in the Lady Thunderbirds win over 8th-ranked Odessa College in four sets. She finished the week with 41 kills and 128 attacks with just 17 errors. She also had 37 digs, a block and two block assists in just nine sets.
A 5-5 sophomore libero from Chigasaki, Kanagawa, Japan, Yamamoto earned Defensive POW honors with a solid effort last week, Overall she had 54 digs and four assists in seven sets, and helped carry NMMI to a 3-1 win over Odessa College.
