WJCAC Women's Volleyball Players of the Week (Oct. 16-22)

The Western Junior College Athletic Conference has announced its Players of the Week for Oct. 16-22.

The WJCAC Players of the Week are Vitoria Oliveira of NMMI and Mio Yamamoto of NMMI.

A 6-2 freshman middle blocker from Sao Paulo, Brazil, Oliveira earned offensive player of the week honors after hitting .750 against Clarendon on Wednesday of last week with zero attack errors. She followed up that performance with a .556 game against Western Texas with just two errors. Overall, she had 26 kills and 39 attacks and nine block assists in seven sets.

A 5-5 sophomore libero from Chigasaki, Kanagawa, Japan, Yamamoto was the defensive player of the week after averaging eight digs per set in a 3-1 win over Western Texas College on Saturday. Yamamoto now has 703 digs on the season, which is tops in the conference and good for third nationally.
