WC seeded No. 6, to face Blinn in national volleyball tourney

The National Junior College Athletic Association released seedings for the Division I National Volleyball Tournament on Thursday, and Weatherford College is the No. 6 seed in the tournament, which runs Nov. 15–18 in Hutchinson, Kansas.

WC will face No. 11 seed Blinn College in the first round on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 10 a.m. in the Hutchinson Events Center.

The Coyotes enter the tournament with a 32-3 record after winning the Region V Tournament at the Graber Athletic Center. This will be the first national tournament for the Coyotes, a program that's only in its second year.

The Buccaneers (34-5) were the final at-large selection to receive an invitation to the tournament. Blinn was the Region XIV Tournament runner-up. This will be the Bucs' fourth national volleyball tournament appearance since 2018.

Weatherford defeated Blinn in three sets on Aug. 18 in a non-conference match at the Graber Athletic Center.

Coincidentally, the Blinn and WC baseball teams faced each other in the NJCAA World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado, on June 1.

The 16-team, double-elimination volleyball tournament will be streamed live on the NJCAA Network with placing matches and the finals on ESPN+. "The Coyote" radio station (88.5/102.5 FM) will broadcast its morning show live from Hutchinson Wednesday through Friday and will have post-match podcasts on its smartphone app after each WC match.
