Doiron, Cole Named DAC Players of Week
Dallas College Eastfield's Taryn Doiron and Ava Cole have been named the Dallas Athletic Conference Volleyball Players of the Week.
Doiron, a sophomore setter from Bridge City, Texas, was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week. Cole, a sophomore libero from Royse City, Texas, is the Defensive Player of the Week. They are the first award winners of the season.
Doiron had 133 assists, eight kills, three blocks, two aces and 23 digs as No. 1 Eastfield went 4-0 to open the season. Doiron had 43 assists in a three-set sweep over Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College at Dallas College North Lake. She averaged 12.09 assists per set, and leads the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III in that category after the first week of the season. The Harvester Bees averaged 14.08 kills per set, which also leads the country.
Cole finished with 46 digs, two aces and five assists as the Bees won all four matches by sweep, beating two NJCAA Division I programs and two NJCAA Division II opponents. She had 16 digs in the win over Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, and finished with double digit digs in three of the four matches. Cole averaged 4.18 digs per set, and the Harvesters won all three matches in the Eastfield Invitational.
Eastfield will compete in the Wrangler Ranger Roundup in Ranger and Cisco, Texas Friday and Saturday.
