Banks, Davis Collect AVCA All-America Honors
Dallas College Eastfield volleyball players Carli Banks and Azoria Davis earned American Volleyball Coaches Association Two-Year College All-America honors Friday.
Banks, a sophomore outside hitter from Houston, was named a First Team All-American. Davis, a sophomore hitter from League City, Texas, was a Second Team All-America selection.
Both received First Team National Junior College Athletic Association Division III All-America honors earlier this week.
Banks, also named the NJCAA Division III Player of the Year, had 282 kills, a .323 attack percentage, 313 digs, 43 aces and 54 blocks as the Harvester Bees won a second straight national championship. She had double-digit kills in nine matches, recording career highs of 15 kills and 30 digs in a 3-2 victory over NJCAA Division I Temple College. Banks had a career-best five aces in a sweep of Central Community College-Columbus, while recording at least four aces in four matches.
Davis, who was voted the Most Valuable Player of the NJCAA Division III National Tournament, had 263 kills, 319 digs, 39 blocks and 23 aces. She had double-digit kills in 13 matches, with a season-high of 15 in a sweep of Dallas College North Lake. Davis had a season-high 19 digs in a 3-1 win over Western Texas College, and finished with double-digit digs in 15 matches. She had a career-high five aces in a sweep of Owens Community College in the national quarterfinals.
Banks and Davis anchored the Harvester Bees' attack over the past two years en route to a 69-1 record and two NJCAA Division III championships.
